Version rollback

Go back to an earlier version of Uncoder in one click, or by uploading its zip from GitHub, if an update causes a problem.

On this page

If something stopped working after you updated Uncoder, you can install the version you had before. Your pages, templates, Design System and settings stay as they are.

Uncoder → Settings → Tools has a Version rollback card. It lists the earlier Uncoder releases published on GitHub (opens in a new tab), newest first, so you can reinstall one in one click.

The Version rollback card: Current version 0.1.0. No earlier versions are available.
Settings → Tools → Version rollback

Roll back from the card

  1. Back up your site

Make a backup first, with your host's tools or a backup plugin.

  2. Pick the version

In Uncoder → Settings → Tools → Version rollback, choose the version you want, usually the one you had before the update.

  3. Install it

Confirm. Uncoder downloads that release from GitHub, installs it over the current version and stays active.

The card shows no versions when there is no earlier release, when GitHub cannot be reached from your server, and on a development copy (a linked folder or a git checkout), which is never replaced.

Install an earlier version by hand

  1. Get the earlier zip

Open the Uncoder releases on GitHub (opens in a new tab), find the version you want and download its uncoder.zip. If you kept the zip file of your previous version, you can use that.

  2. Upload it

Go to Plugins → Add Plugin, click Upload Plugin, choose the zip file and click Install Now.

  3. Replace the current version

WordPress sees that Uncoder is already installed and warns that you are uploading an older version. Click Replace current with uploaded.

After rolling back

  • Your content and settings are kept. Avoid editing pages that use features added in the newer version until you update again.
  • WordPress keeps offering the newest version under Dashboard → Updates. Update again when a release fixes your problem. See Update Uncoder.
  • Tell us what went wrong at avi@uncoder.co and include the System info report, so it can be fixed.
